In the darkness they scuttle about. Claws clacking on blacktop echoes in the alleys. The night is their feeding time and they harvest quickly, trying to beat the sun. Their skin, as dark and dry as soot, was a boon in the murk of shadows and a weakness in the yellow cast of the morning star. They rummage where they have rummaged a hundred times before and find nothing. Their pack has grown in number too quickly and they eat with an endless hunger...     Every time I think about it my head explodes.    He read my chapter 8 entry and picked it to close the Odyssey 2 Project and I couldn't be more happy and creatively invigorated every time the fact crosses my mind. I had a chill when it first happened, that's not just an overused saying, I really had one of those moments. It was a little surreal. At a young age, The Great and Secret Show taught me just how sprawling and "wild and out there" fiction could get and his book is still a huge personal favorite.    A personal inspiration read my work.
